Tania Hayes OAM, is a shining example of a woman making a difference not only in the Illawarra community of southern New South Wales, but throughout Australia too.
At 22, Tania’s life changed when her fiancé, Warren, was diagnosed with a life-threatening brain tumour. After 446 days in hospital, Warren became wheelchair bound and required 24-hour assistance to survive. It was at that moment that Tania took on the enormous responsibility of devoting her life to becoming his full-time carer.
Since that day Tania has become a leader in her field as a Carer Ambassador for Carers Australia, Carer Representative for Carers NSW, Ambassador and Board Member of the Sir Roden and Lady Cutler Foundation and on chosen on the Consumer Advisory Committee for the Continence Foundation of Australia.
Tania and Warren’s heart felt story has touched many across the nation. It has featured on television shows, in magazines, on radio and is the focus of Tania’s inspiring and best-selling book Love Has No Limits. Tania is a sought-after inspirational speaker and multi award winner for her services to the community. On Australia Day 2011, Tania was honoured with an Order of Australia OAM for her services to carers and their families in Australia.

In July 2008, Tania nominated Warren’s mates from Martin Morris & Jones Real Estate in Wollongong for the ‘Pride of Australia Award for Mateship’ for their love, dedication and support to Warren every afternoon over the last 11 years in keeping his spirit alive and helping to rehabilitate him.
